Journey Ends with Lovers’ Meeting…

Not.

With Nutaku Aigis closing down, the bigger question I find myself asking isn’t really “what now?”, rather “what next?”.

During the middle of this year I’ve already given serious thoughts about diversifying my viewer base and reader base on this blog. Granted both are currently MWA content only this is obviously a big change to consider. I’ve also had to consider if I am going to continue running MWA content or going to something else, since obviously MWA isn’t the only game I’ve been actively playing so far.

When I first started all these, its mainly to serve as a video guide of all things MWA as a free player as well as a side purpose of my journey on Nutaku Aigis. It is one of the main reasons why throughout the years there isn’t really a lot of mentions about my DMM accounts despite people knowing me playing it longer than my lifespan on the English version. That said, restarting a new account which effectively is going to be my fifth play-through is sort of overdoing it more so with my 12-hour working schedule, while creating content using my 3-year old accounts with 10+ premium Blacks really defeat the purpose of them being free player guides (though one have to agree at this stage that certain Premium Blacks are pretty essential for Majin runs). Thus, it is with reluctant heart that I have to say with certain degree of confidence that there will be very little MWA content coming up in the near future.

Going back to the “what next?” question, at this stage there isn’t a concrete answer. There are several games that I’ve been playing so far and plan to commit my Nutaku MWA time slot for these games, but they aren’t exactly of either hentai/TD/mobile-friendly nature. There isn’t an incentive to restart my Kanpani adventures after the closure of Nutaku’s version early this year; in fact I’ve had 3 games closed this year, with both Kanpani and MWA on Nutaku’s side and Symphony Girls on DMM, the second installment from the developers of Flower Knight Girls that couldn’t gain traction unlike Shiropro that has seen it fare way better than its Aigis predecessor. It also means that all Nutaku games I’ve played so far have closed; this unfortunately has really disincentivized me to continue playing on that platform. Not saying its their fault, but it is going to be hard to convince myself that other Japanese translated online games will be secure on Nutaku with these high profile closures going on this year.

Apart from MWA on DMM, the other 2 web-based games that I am still actively playing are Flower Knight Girl and Granblue Fantasy, a game released by Cygames, the same developer that built Shadowverse and worked on by some of the better game talents in the Japanese industry including crew members that worked on previous Final Fantasy releases. People who played Kamihime Project will find relative similarity between the game and Granblue Fantasy; Kamihime Project has a delayed launch on DMM for quite a long while due to legal dispute filed by Cygames accusing DMM of copyright infringement. In terms of client-based online games, I am currently playing Uncharted Waters Online, a pretty old game that is based on the Uncharted Waters series. Most of these games, with the exception of Granblue Fantasy, takes pretty little time to fully enjoy and fit just about right to my limited play time. The bigger problem is that apart from Flower Knight Girl which literally have little to no strategy value to create guides on, the other two games are relatively real-time, so a live-stream is going to be a better option which I have virtually no experience in building one (also with potato broadband). However, the variety of content from GBF or UWO is pretty good as the games are rich in playstyles so I might explore strategy videos from these games moving forward. There’s also the possibility of air time for an offline game that I have found myself revisiting a lot due to how enjoyable it is to play when I set several targets on that game: Stardew Valley.

Understandably most of you will be disappointed with this decision. Needless to say that it is a difficult decision for me at first considering how I’ve been running this for more than 2 years now and to stop the journey here is painful, but when I look at the community today especially those that play both sides and there are better guide channels out there for DMM version readily available on YouTube these days I feel that now is a good time to embrace the sort of change I’ve been thinking about over the past few months. Ultimately the main purpose is to share the games that I’ve played and enjoyed with everyone around that isn’t only just MWA, so hopefully VP Games and this blog will still get viewers as I write about some of the games on the channel.

I will be putting up the game links in case you are interested with them. Until then, let us bid farewell to 2 years of bittersweet journey on Nutaku Aigis, and toast for a new journey ahead.

Thanks for all the help Iceinhell. The ride on English Aigis was definitely fun. All the help you’ve given will help as I enter the world of DMM Aigis. Whatever you plan on doing, I’ll stick around.
